Microsoft is hiring multiple Principal Software Engineer and Principal AI Engineer roles across its Commerce Platforms organization. The positions provide technical leadership for large-scale commerce, financial, payments, data, AI, and cloud platform systems; define architecture and technical strategy; lead distributed systems and AI-native engineering; modernize services; influence roadmaps; and mentor engineers. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field plus at least six years of technical engineering experience, along with relevant distributed systems, cloud, commerce, payments, AI, and DevOps experience. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 142,800–274,800 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
