Description
The Psychiatric Technician provides nursing care to patients under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse in the Psychiatric Department at Norwalk Hospital. Responsibilities include patient education, procedures, documentation of mental status and behaviors, restraint care, maintaining a safe therapeutic milieu, de-escalating potential violence, conducting contraband searches, leading patient groups, and supporting patient rights and education. The role offers day and evening three 8-hour shifts, requires a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS/CPR within 90 days of starting or completing orientation, and CPI or de-escalation training within six months of hire; one year of psychiatric population experience is preferred. The salary range is $17.00 to $31.36 per hour.
