Description
The Public Safety Dispatcher receives, evaluates, and prioritizes emergency and non-emergency calls; communicates with callers; dispatches law enforcement, medical, fire, and other response units; provides location and routing information; maintains contact with field personnel; and enters accurate data into criminal justice and other records systems. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid Arizona driver's license, typing ability of at least 30 words per minute, completion of an 18-week telecommunications course, and successful completion of background, fingerprint, and health-related examinations. The position involves working with radio consoles, 911 equipment, GIS and GPS mapping, CAD systems, multiple computer terminals, and public safety personnel.
