Description
The Public Works Department Head directs, plans, organizes, administers, and oversees the City's Public Works Department, including capital improvements, transportation, parking, lighting, maintenance, resource conservation, solid waste, and watershed management. The role also serves as the City Engineer, City Traffic Engineer, and Floodplain Administrator, performs civil engineering and engineering-permit functions, manages budgets and construction projects, advises the City Council and City Manager, and leads staff and community outreach. It requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, seven years of increasingly responsible public works experience including at least three years in a complex or supervisory capacity, and a California driver's license; California Professional Engineer registration is desirable.
