Description
The Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) performs detailed inspections of elevators, escalators, moving walks, vertical platform lifts, stairway chairlifts, and dumbwaiters to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, ASME, and jurisdictional requirements. The role conducts acceptance, annual, periodic, alteration, repair, and follow-up inspections; documents violations and corrective actions; prepares reports for authorities and clients; communicates code requirements; and maintains an active QEI certification and required licenses. The position is field-based, may require travel and work outside standard business hours, and reports to a Regional Inspection Supervisor or Regional Field Operations Manager.
