Description

Berkeley Lab’s Applied Mathematics and Computational Research Division is hiring a Quantum Algorithms Postdoctoral Fellow for its Scalable Solvers Group under the Quantum Computing for Computational Chemistry (QC3) program. The role develops scalable Krylov-inspired quantum subspace methods, designs and optimizes quantum circuits for neutral-atom-based quantum processors, evaluates quantum error correction and error mitigation, and disseminates research through publications and conferences. Applicants need a Ph.D. in a relevant field, quantum-algorithm research experience, strong numerical linear algebra and quantum-hardware skills, and first-author peer-reviewed publications. The position is full-time for two years, primarily based at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California, with an anticipated start date of October 1, 2026, and a salary range of $8,570 to $9,935.
