ABB is hiring an R&D Engineer to work as a funded PhD student on a project integrating recyclability into permanent magnet synchronous machine rotors. The role involves electromagnetic design, software development, prototyping, experimental validation, life-cycle assessment, and publication, with physical presence in Helsinki and a fixed term until spring 2030. Applicants must have completed a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, have a background in rotating-machine electromagnetic design and finite-element methods, and be able to program in Python, MATLAB, or an equivalent language.
