Description
The Rail Yard Operator is responsible for safely moving and placing rail cars, coordinating with rail technicians for blue-flag clearance, providing track locations, and performing interplant rail switching under the direction of the Rail Coordinator. The role includes equipment inspections, maintaining cleanliness of locomotive and track areas, following safety procedures, communicating equipment or process concerns, and accepting responsibility for damage. Candidates should have a high school degree or associate degree preferred, knowledge of rail switching and track systems, train air and brake systems, locomotive power systems, computer proficiency, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
