Description
The Maintenance Specialist repairs, modifies, and upgrades railcars; rebuilds components such as bolsters, side framers, hitch heads, and box car doors; welds, fabricates, cuts, and assembles parts; performs mechanical labor; operates forklifts; measures and replaces pipes and air lines; and enters repair information electronically. The role requires mechanical skills, welding and cutting, decision-making, and the ability to work outdoors for 8–10 hours in varying weather, lift heavy parts, and work around moving machinery. It reports to a line or work group supervisor and follows 8- to 10-hour shifts with regularly changing work hours and rest days.
