Description
TGS is seeking a railroad switchman/yard railcar operator to assemble trains and switch railcars in industrial plant or ship-port yards. The role supports the Locomotive Engineer, performs locomotive and railcar safety inspections, supplies fuel and other fluids, diagnoses and repairs mechanical issues, replaces coupler knuckles, operates handbrakes and track switches, routes and loads or unloads railcars, and communicates using hand signals or two-way radio. The position requires a TWIC card, customer- and employer-required safety training, strong communication, mechanical aptitude, sound judgment, physical coordination, and the ability to work around moving equipment, loud noise, fumes, and changing weather conditions.
