CSUN is hiring a Realtime Captioner to provide continuous, on-site CART services for Deaf or hard-of-hearing consumers and other individuals in academic, instructional, and administrative settings. The role uses court reporting methods, a steno machine, real-time software, and a laptop to create word-for-word English transcripts, assists consumers with questions or comments, and maintains equipment and custom dictionaries. It is a temporary, renewable, intermittent, on-call appointment with an annual contract from July through June, requiring formal court reporting training and captioning experience; applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and pass a background check.
