Description
The Registered Professional Nurse performs age-specific plans of care for designated patient groups, using the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care. The role coordinates with physicians and other health-care team members, administers treatments and medications, provides patient and family education, performs skin and decubitus care, documents care, and directs or delegates activities to the patient-care-unit team. A New York State Registered Professional Nurse license and specialized certifications are required; a bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred, and enrollment in an accredited BSN program is required within two years of job entry.
