Description
The Respiratory Therapist provides basic and critical respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients, including aerosol and oxygen therapy, arterial blood gas testing, ventilator care, pulmonary function testing, drainage procedures, cardiorespiratory rehabilitation, and patient and family education. The role also maintains medical records, supports equipment maintenance and quality control, assists with bronchoscopies and specialty procedures, and may supervise or train new employees. Required credentials include NBRC-RRT or NBRC-CRT, a California Respiratory Care Practitioner license, CPR or BLS certification, and National Board of Respiratory Care registration; preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree and three years of technical experience.
