Description
The Respiratory Therapist provides basic and critical respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients, including aerosol and oxygen therapy, ventilator care, arterial blood gas testing, pulmonary function tests, drainage procedures, cardiorespiratory rehabilitation, and patient and family education. The role also maintains medical records, supports equipment maintenance and quality control, assists with bronchoscopies and specialty procedures, and may supervise or train new employees. Required credentials include NBRC-RRT or NBRC-CRT, California Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure, CPR or BLS certification, ACLS certification, and National Board of Respiratory Care registration; preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree and three years of technical experience.
