Description

Freenome is hiring an onsite Research Associate I/II to develop and validate clinical-grade next-generation sequencing assays for complex, blood-based analytes. The role involves molecular biology and nucleic-acid biochemistry, automated assay characterization, experimental data analysis, troubleshooting, process improvement, and collaboration with molecular research, computational science, automation engineering, and clinical operations teams. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree with at least one year of relevant industry experience or a master’s degree in molecular biology or a related field, along with hands-on NGS assay development experience. The US target base hourly range is $37.68–$46.69, with equity, cash bonuses, and medical, financial, and other benefits.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of relevant industry experience, or a master’s degree in molecular biology or a related field.
Required Previous Experiences: At least one year of relevant industry experience
Hands-on experience developing NGS-based assays, including sample preparation, library preparation, target capture, and sequencing
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a regulated laboratory environment, including CLIA, GLP/GCLP, or IVD development
Experience with automated plate-based, low-volume, microfluidic, or liquid-handler platforms
Experience with electronic lab notebooks and laboratory information management systems
Familiarity with scientific programming in Python or R
