Virginia Tech is hiring a Research Associate II, Chemist for a one-year sponsored research project in the Food Analysis Laboratory in the Biochemistry Department in Blacksburg, Virginia. The role performs quantitative analysis of food nutrients using GC and HPLC, sets up and validates assay methods, maintains and troubleshoots analytical equipment, prepares samples, documents quality control and standard operating procedures, and supports junior staff and the principal investigator. The position requires a master’s or bachelor’s degree plus at least three years of post-degree experience in a relevant chemistry or life-science field, with extensive chromatography and food-analysis experience. The salary is $60,000–$70,000 for 40 hours per week, and the project is scheduled to begin at the end of September 2026.
