Distyl is hiring a Research Engineer to bridge frontier AI research and production systems. The role focuses on improving AI system behavior through post-training workflows, datasets, preference signals, evaluation suites, reward models, fine-tuning, feedback loops, experimentation infrastructure, and production analysis. The engineer will collaborate with AI researchers, AI engineers, and customer stakeholders to turn promising techniques into reliable, measurable systems while balancing research ambition with practical constraints. The position offers a base salary of $150,000–$250,000, equity, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, and a hybrid schedule requiring at least three days per week in the office.
