Description
The Special Education Teacher plans and conducts educational assessments for students referred for special education services, collaborates with general education teachers, DIS providers, assistants, and behavior intervention providers, and coordinates Resource Specialist services across learning centers, general education classrooms, and Resource Specialist classrooms. The role develops and maintains IEPs, monitors student progress, conducts ongoing assessments, supports co-teaching, and provides professional development for staff and parents. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in an applicable field of education, a valid educational specialist credential with English Learner and autism spectrum disorders authorization or eligibility for a Special Education Credential, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel 0–10% within Los Angeles County.
