Description
The Adult Medical Specialty Unit Registered Nurse provides acute-care general medical nursing care in a 56-bed unit, with patient ratios of 1:4–5 from 07:30 to 23:00 and 1:5–6 from 23:00 to 07:30. The role requires BLS certification and experience with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes; EPIC and travel experience are preferred, while Level I trauma-center experience may substitute for travel experience if EPIC experience is present. The nurse may titrate Heparin and Lasix drips, supports patients with conditions such as sepsis, dehydration, diabetes, respiratory failure, and liver or kidney failure, and may float to other acute-care general medical areas. The schedule is 3–12, with every other weekend and variable holiday requirements, and no call or standby requirement.
