Description
Abaka AI is hiring a Robotics Research Engineer for its in-house Abaka Robotics Lab to develop data foundations for physical AI. The role combines robot learning research, training and evaluating policies on simulated and real robotic systems, analyzing which data improves performance, and designing scalable pipelines that synthesize, auto-label, and curate training datasets. The engineer will work with 6-DoF collaborative robot arms and an ALOHA-style bimanual teleoperation platform, contribute to publications, and maintain training and evaluation infrastructure. The position requires an MS or PhD in a relevant field, 1–3 years of hands-on real-robot experience, and strong fundamentals in machine learning, robotics, and 3D vision. The base salary is $100,000–$140,000 USD annually, with equity and health, dental, vision, PTO, and flexible-work benefits.
