Description
The School Nurse provides comprehensive clinical nursing care to students, staff, preschool children, and day-care populations; assesses and treats acute illness and injury, develops individualized health care plans, provides health education and counseling, maintains health and immunization records, implements communicable-disease controls, and supports school health teams. The role also supervises VNHFC School Health Office personnel and may conduct annual evaluations of Health Assistants. Qualifications include Connecticut Registered Professional Nurse licensure, a baccalaureate degree in nursing or a related field preferred, at least two years of current nursing experience in pediatrics, school health, or the emergency department, CPR/AED certification, computer literacy preferred, strong organizational and multitasking skills, and knowledge of child and young-adult assessment and developmental milestones.
