L3Harris is hiring a Scientist, Optical Engineering in Palm Bay, Florida, on a 9/80 schedule. The role supports space and mission systems by developing and integrating free-space optical communication links and ground terminals, creating performance models and link budgets, leading hardware development and testing, managing requirements and subcontractors, and supporting technical teams and program risks. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree and at least 12 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree and 10 years, or 16 years without a degree, along with optical design, integration, testing, and team-leadership experience; a US DoD Secret security clearance is required.
