Description
The Guardian is hiring a Scotland correspondent for an internal staff secondment of up to nine months to cover parental leave. The role is based in Glasgow or another location in Scotland and involves producing news stories and features across digital, multimedia, and print platforms; breaking exclusive stories; developing digital storytelling; maintaining contacts across Scottish politics, culture, justice, health, technology, business, the arts, education, social affairs, and home affairs; and collaborating with editors and other correspondents. Applicants need strong knowledge of Scottish politics, a track record of breaking stories and feature writing, reporting experience across digital and print, excellent contacts, Scottish and UK media law knowledge, and preferably NCTJ training and a full UK driving licence. The starting salary is a minimum of £41,223, and applications close on Friday, 2 October 2026.
