Wise is hiring a Screening Engineer to own end-to-end projects for sanctions, PEP, and adverse-media screening systems. The role involves designing and deploying fault-tolerant, high-throughput distributed services; improving matching algorithms and observability; optimizing databases; and collaborating with compliance, risk, and operations teams. Candidates need strong Java and Spring experience, asynchronous messaging, REST API, relational and non-relational database, and full-service lifecycle experience, with compliance, financial crime, or risk-adjacent experience preferred.
