trivago is hiring a senior Search Scientist to build and improve production search, retrieval, ranking, personalisation, and two-sided marketplace systems for hotel search across 35+ languages. The role owns end-to-end components from problem framing and model development through deployment, evaluation, and business impact, using traditional machine learning, deep learning, and language models. It requires at least five years of experience in production search, ranking, or recommendation systems, along with expertise in learning-to-rank, retrieval, query understanding, transformer fine-tuning, experimentation, Python, SQL, PyTorch, HuggingFace, vector search, and cloud ML pipelines. The position is based in Düsseldorf, Germany, with hybrid work and visa support.
