Proofpoint is hiring a Senior Applied AI Engineer to own applied AI research from problem framing through experimentation, evaluation, and production deployment. The role focuses on agentic systems, AI evaluation, hosted and self-hosted models, coding agents, and production monitoring, while also mentoring engineers and helping the team improve its research practices. Candidates need a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in computer science or a related field, at least five years of software and machine learning systems experience, recent LLM work beyond the prototype stage, research experience, and expertise in AI evaluation and related tooling.
