Spellbook is hiring a Backend Engineer to build and scale the backend systems powering its AI copilot for legal contract work. The role focuses on product-facing services, low-latency search and inference, RAG retrieval, orchestration, reliability, rate limiting, retries, fallbacks, and production performance. It requires 5+ years of production backend experience, strong distributed-systems and NoSQL skills, and familiarity with Node.js, TypeScript, Express, tRPC, MongoDB, Docker, AWS, and CDK.
