Umba is hiring a remote Back-End / Full-Stack Engineer to design, build, and scale core financial technology services. The role focuses on Python backend development with Flask and FastAPI, API and distributed-systems architecture, Next.js frontend contributions, AI-assisted development, code review, testing, production debugging, and engineering process improvements. Candidates need at least five years of production software engineering experience, strong Python and backend skills, and experience with APIs, distributed systems, and modern development workflows. Valid work authorization for Kenya is required.
