Citizen is hiring a Backend Engineer to own a core piece of its real-time safety pipeline, including incident ingestion, detection, verification, geolocation, live video delivery, AI-in-pipeline services, internal operator tooling, enterprise APIs, and infrastructure. The role requires consumer-scale backend systems, Go and Python, Kubernetes, cloud services, live video or streaming experience, and strong AI agent and operational capabilities. It is based in New York City, requires daily office attendance, includes a rotational on-call schedule, and offers a base salary of $200,000–$260,000 per year plus equity.
