GitLab is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for its Database Excellence group to build and evolve data frameworks and tooling that keep application datastores scalable, healthy, and safe across GitLab.com and self-managed deployments. The role focuses on data retention and lifecycle management, schema-change enforcement, SQL traffic replay, background operations, database performance, scalability, and data health. It requires professional software engineering experience with PostgreSQL in large production environments, Ruby on Rails or another Ruby framework, and the ability to work asynchronously in a fully remote, distributed team.
