Citi is hiring a Senior Backend Principal Developer in Jersey City, New Jersey, to lead the design, architecture, implementation, and evolution of scalable, secure, and resilient backend services and APIs for an enterprise digital experience platform. The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, including distributed systems, microservices, authentication and authorization, performance engineering, integration design, production troubleshooting, and mentorship. It requires 6–10 years of backend development experience, strong Java expertise, and experience with cloud-native technologies, databases, and enterprise identity systems. The position is full time and offers a base salary of $142,320 to $213,480, plus potential incentive and retention awards and employee benefits.
