Microsoft is hiring a Senior Cloud Hardware Engineer to scale Azure’s fault self-healing and failure prediction systems for storage devices. The role owns end-to-end technical design and execution across telemetry, automation, isolation logic, firmware interactions, and repair workflows at hyperscale, while collaborating with hardware, firmware, software, and supplier teams. Required qualifications include a relevant master’s degree with 3+ years of technical engineering experience, or a relevant bachelor’s degree with 5+ years, or equivalent experience; preferred qualifications include SSD firmware, NVMe and PCIe, storage resiliency, and hyperscale automation experience. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 119,800–234,700 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
