Description

Alexion is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Tokyo-based team. This role involves designing, building, and operating scalable data solutions on AWS and Snowflake, focusing on commercial data enablement and contributing to advanced analytics/data science work. The successful candidate will collaborate globally, working with the Global Data team and coordinating with a development team in India.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Master's degree or higher in data science, statistics, informatics, computer science, or a related field.
Required Previous Experiences: 8-12+ years of relevant experience in data engineering/analytics engineering with end-to-end ownership of production data solutions.
Strong hands-on experience with AWS data/pipeline services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, IAM, and CloudWatch.
Proven experience delivering solutions in Snowflake, including secure design, performance tuning, and cost optimization.
Expert SQL and strong Python skills for data engineering and analytics.
Demonstrated ability to deliver within a standardized enterprise data framework.
Experience integrating and modeling Salesforce.com and/or Veeva CRM data, including handling frequent configuration/schema changes.
Working knowledge of statistics, exploration analysis, and ML concepts, with ability to contribute hands-on to analytical deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with audit readiness, privacy-by-design, and governance expectations for sensitive data.
Experience supporting feature engineering pipelines, model evaluation/validation practices, and operationalizing analytical workflows.
Exposure to GenAI, NLP, or modern AI techniques, with awareness of responsible AI and governance considerations.
Practical experience communicating insights via Power BI (and/or Tableau) and Python visualization libraries.
