Description

OMERS is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to lead the transformation of its investment data platforms by building and operating Snowflake-based pipelines, integrations, data models, quality controls, and APIs for BlackRock Aladdin and legacy investment systems. The role owns end-to-end data capabilities, including production pipelines, orchestration, CI/CD, monitoring, documentation, testing, and change adoption, while also supporting the current investment data environment. It requires at least six years of relevant experience, expert SQL and data modelling, Snowflake and Python, investment-system knowledge, and strong communication skills.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 6+ years of data engineering, software engineering, or data platform experience supporting investment platforms, order management, investment accounting, data warehouses, or cloud data platforms across change initiatives and large transformation programs.
Production experience with Snowflake or an equivalent cloud data warehouse, including performance tuning, zero-copy cloning, time travel, and role-based access control.
Experience building integrations with investment systems and handling varied data formats, including JSON, XML, flat files, and APIs.
Senior-level experience working directly with investment systems across at least two of performance measurement and attribution, investment accounting, order management, or risk.
Strong experience with Git, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines for data code using dbt, Azure DevOps, or comparable tools.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience owning a data capability over its lifecycle rather than delivering discrete pipelines.
Depth in performance measurement and attribution across fixed income and equity strategies.
Working knowledge of order management and trade lifecycle data, including Aladdin OMS, Charles River, or comparable platforms.
Understanding of investment accounting concepts and the data structures behind them.
Hands-on experience with dbt, Azure, Snowflake, and Prefect or equivalent orchestration.
Experience with Terraform, ARM, or Bicep for cloud resource provisioning.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
Cloud or data engineering certifications are an asset but are not a substitute for demonstrated delivery.
Strong communication with portfolio managers, operations leads, and data architects.
Experience using generative AI tools and prompt engineering.
