Carsales is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for its AI & Data Science team to lead end-to-end data science initiatives focused on recommendation, ranking, personalisation, customer intent, and behavioural data. The role covers exploratory analysis, model development, experimentation, evaluation, productionisation, and collaboration with Product, Data, Technology, and Commercial teams. Candidates need substantial hands-on experience with statistical modelling and machine learning, experimentation, advanced programming, AWS, modern data tools, and model-lifecycle platforms, along with domain expertise in recommendation and ranking systems.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Substantial hands-on experience applying statistical modelling and machine learning to complex customer or business problems, with a proven track record of delivering end-to-end solutions that drive measurable impact.
Strong understanding of experimentation and evaluation, including designing robust offline and online tests, establishing credible baselines, and connecting model performance with commercial outcomes.
Advanced programming skills for preparing large datasets and developing production-quality modelling code, with familiarity with AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, MLflow, and Metaflow.
Domain expertise in recommendation, ranking, and personalisation, including two-tower architectures, semantic embeddings, sequence modelling, or cold-start strategies.
