Description

Kraken is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead regional technical market-access and integration efforts for Demand Side Response and flexibility assets in Germany. The role develops integration approaches for BESS, wind, solar, CHP and other assets; supports prequalification with German TSOs and BNetzA; provides regional expertise on hardware, industrial protocols, connectivity, cybersecurity, and ancillary-service requirements; and acts as the technical liaison with TSOs, DSOs, customers, and internal teams. The position is based in Manchester, with occasional regional support and travel, and requires German and English fluency, an electrical or related engineering background, and experience with industrial communication and power-plant systems.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation/Control, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in industrial/energy integration.
Required Previous Experiences: Experience establishing industrial communication and connectivity between field equipment and external systems.
Working understanding of power-plant control systems and instrumentation, including metering.
Knowledge of the TSO/DSO hierarchy and connection/integration process.
Knowledge of ancillary-service prequalification and technical requirements.
Knowledge of the Redispatch 3.0 regulatory framework.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61400-25, OPC-UA, and Modbus.
Understanding of IT/OT security in the energy sector, including NIS2, EnWG/KRITIS, and IEC 62443.
Familiarity with CLI tools for configuring, diagnosing, and maintaining hardware or network connections in remote Linux environments.
Familiarity with software languages, version-controlled configuration, and general tooling.
Exposure to European balancing markets and ENTSO-E frameworks.
