Smiths Detection is hiring a Senior Embedded Software Engineer in Hemel Hempstead to design, develop, test, and support embedded software for chemical and explosive trace detection systems. The role focuses initially on low-power microcontroller platforms and later on embedded systems and Linux-based development, while also involving technical leadership, architecture, code reviews, testing, Agile delivery, and mentoring. Candidates need at least five years of embedded software experience, strong C/C++ and embedded hardware skills, knowledge of communication protocols and RTOS, Linux experience, version-control and debugging expertise, and eligibility for BPSS and SC security clearances. Regular on-site presence is required.
