Description

AECOM is hiring a Senior Environmental Planner - Transmission for its Environmental Planning and Permitting team in the Midwest. The hybrid role can be based in Indianapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Columbus, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Kansas City, or Detroit, with consideration for Upper Midwest locations. The position leads environmental planning, compliance, permitting, siting, routing, NEPA documentation, project management, client relationships, business development, and mentorship for energy infrastructure projects, including transmission, grid modernization, and renewable energy developments.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, environmental science, geography, natural resources, engineering, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency in electric transmission and renewable energy permitting, siting, routing, critical issues analysis, land use entitlements, technical studies, or multi-disciplinary team oversight
Preferred Qualifications: 10+ years managing permitting and preparing state utility commission documentation with strong knowledge of state and federal regulations
Advanced experience leading complex transmission and renewable energy permitting programs, including strategic permitting, agency negotiation, and multi-state routing
Experience leading transmission permitting, routing, and certificate proceedings before state utility commissions and public service commissions, including regulatory hearings or expert witness testimony
Experience supporting client development, proposal preparation, and business development
Experience managing environmental planning or permitting projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and client communications
Project management experience on environmental planning projects, including client interaction, schedule and budget controls, and invoicing
Leadership in proposal development and successful competitive bid pursuit
Experience working in a fast-paced consulting environment and managing and mentoring staff
