Description

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is hiring a Senior Field Mechanical Engineer - Assembly to own and solve complex work-station issues during the SPARC Tokamak assembly process. The role manages assembly sequences, defines first-encounter work scope, resolves fit, method, and component-handling problems, procures or designs tools and fixtures, supports precision alignment, and collaborates with adjacent systems teams. It is a third-shift, on-site field role in the CFS-2 facility in Devens, Massachusetts, with a 3:00 pm–1:00 am schedule and salary plus a 10% differential, equity, and benefits.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
Required Previous Experiences: 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience
Project ownership experience
4+ years overseeing construction, manufacturing, or assembly/integration processes
4+ years of CAD software experience
Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years of Siemens NX experience
Lifting operations experience
Welding knowledge
Piping and tubing construction and joining knowledge
Experience with complex or delicate assemblies
Experience with assembly or integration in tightly packaged spaces
