AND Digital is seeking a Senior Java Engineer for a contract role starting immediately. This position requires strong experience in Java and comfort with test-driven development (TDD). The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience in a commercial development team, with expertise in Java and JavaScript, and familiarity with various tools and frameworks. They must also possess commercial experience in agile methodologies, the ability to influence technical decisions considering client needs, and extensive experience in implementing architectural, DevOps, performance, or security aspects. The role involves mentoring junior engineers, providing technical guidance, and ensuring high-quality project deliverables.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Lead Engineer in a commercial development team
commercial experience working with agile methodologies.
implementing architecture, DevOps, performance or security
working knowledge of CI/CD practices and deployments.
writing effective documentation and knowledge sharing.
Preferred Qualifications: strong experience in Java and comfortable with TDD (test-driven development)
expert understanding of Java and Javascript and wider experience in different tools and frameworks across the stack.
ability to take clients wider business concerns into account when making technical decisions and dealing with the challenges from stakeholders that come with this.
understanding and ownership of best practice as a Lead Engineer (eg. TDD, SOLID, XP)
comfortable mentoring junior engineers and supporting Squad Leads, with the attributes to provide technical guidance as the most senior engineer on a project and ensuring the development team is achieving project goals and maintaining quality standards.
