The Java API Engineer will design and implement scalable, distributed API systems using Java, Vert.x, RxJava, Groovy, Couchbase, and Kafka, with on-premises and cloud deployments on Azure. The role includes test-driven development, production support, incident resolution, root-cause analysis, stakeholder collaboration, engineering mentorship, and technology evaluation. It requires strong Java 8+ experience, cloud and database expertise, scalable-systems experience, and familiarity with reactive programming and Agile methodologies.
