Description

AWS is hiring a Senior Kernel & Hypervisor Engineer to build and operate the EC2 Nitro Hypervisor and related virtualization components. The role owns the software development lifecycle, improves hypervisor and instance-platform quality, contributes to the team roadmap, mentors engineers, and collaborates with hardware, software, and firmware teams. Responsibilities include designing scalable systems, writing optimized C or Rust code, using Linux, and solving customer-facing technical challenges.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Experience designing or architecting systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling
Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations
Experience writing clean, optimized, and scalable code in C or Rust
Several years of experience in kernel or virtualization development with Linux command-line tools
Understanding of operating systems internals
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Proficiency in at least one CPU architecture, such as x86 or ARM
