Description

Intact is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their in-house P&C insurance litigation team. The successful candidate will work autonomously, collaborating with a high-performing team of lawyers, paralegals, adjusters, and legal support professionals. Responsibilities include handling various insurance defense files, drafting legal documents, preparing and conducting court proceedings, assessing claims, and sharing knowledge with colleagues. The role emphasizes strategic goal achievement related to indemnity and expense control.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 10+ years of insurance litigation experience.
experience in legal research and writing, including authorship of legal opinions.
experience drafting pleadings, application documents, tribunal documents, mediation briefs and pre-hearing memoranda.
experience conducting case conferences, settlement conferences, discoveries, examinations under oath and mediations.
proficiency in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes.
lat hearing and trial experience, particularly independent cat hearing and/or trial experience.
Preferred Qualifications: an ability to think outside the box, find novel solutions and be a pragmatic problem solver.
proficiency in technologies, tools, and software programs to optimize operational efficiency and decision making, including but not limited to ai tools, imange, acl and the microsoft office package of programs.
