Description

Canopy is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for its AI Squad to develop and deploy machine learning models for vehicle and content theft prevention. The role covers the full ML lifecycle, including data pipelines, model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, system architecture, CI/CD, and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities also include advanced analysis of large-scale sensory datasets, technical mentoring, and contributing to hiring and architecture decisions. The position requires at least five years of perception-systems experience, a bachelor’s degree, Python and deep-learning expertise, and familiarity with C/C++, object tracking, sensor fusion, Unix environments, and signal processing. The role is based in the Detroit area with a hybrid work arrangement and offers a base salary of $126,000 to $180,000 plus benefits.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: 5+ years developing and implementing machine learning for perception systems, with expertise in radar, camera, or LiDAR
Python and deep learning framework experience, including PyTorch or TensorFlow
Production-grade machine learning application development for training, evaluation, and inference on large-scale datasets
C/C++ application development, preferably for porting machine learning inference to edge or embedded systems
Significant experience applying classical machine learning and neural network models to perception systems
Dynamic object tracking and sensor fusion experience
Proficiency with Unix-based environments, remote servers, virtual computers, and clusters
Signal processing, including time/frequency-domain processing, filtering, and noise reduction
Preferred Qualifications: Edge hardware deployment, PyTorch, ONNX, and model compression
Cloud computing platform experience, such as AWS or GCP
MATLAB experience for algorithm prototyping and research
Docker or containerization experience
Residence in the Detroit area or nearby with hybrid work capability
