Description

The Senior Manager, Train Operation & Construction Planning manages capital projects and design and construction consultants for the Long Island Rail Road. The role coordinates contractors, LIRR and Amtrak departments, third-party agencies, and project teams; oversees schedules, budgets, quality, safety, procurement, change orders, invoices, reporting, and project closeout; and mentors project staff. It is open only to current LIRR employees, is based in New York, and offers telework eligibility.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Arts/Sciences in Transportation, Engineering, Business, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: At least 7 years of railroad experience
Progressively responsible experience in engineering, manufacturing, or construction project management, or a related construction management certificate with successful engineering and/or construction experience
Experience managing or supervising others and contributing to a department or section budget
LIRR Operating Rules and Physical Characteristics qualification at the Train Dispatcher level
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with contract documents, specifications, and plans
Knowledge of operational needs, FRA and FTA policies, and LIRR safety issues
ACI, AACE, CCE, CCS, CDT, CSI, EIT, or VE certification
