Description

The Senior Mechanical Engineer – Solutions Engineering develops mechanical engineering solutions for data centre projects from early customer discussions through concept design, detailed design, construction support, and operational issue resolution. The role supports sales and site selection, develops PUE assessments and technical documentation, manages consultants and vendors, reviews designs for compliance and constructability, identifies cost-reduction opportunities, supports research and development, and mentors junior engineers.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: At least 7 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, including concept design, detailed design, and construction support for complex infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of data centre or mission-critical cooling systems, including chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, ventilation, and control systems.
Experience developing concept designs, equipment specifications, PUE assessments, technical documentation, and Basis of Design drawings.
Experience managing engineering consultants and reviewing designs for technical accuracy, compliance, constructability, quality, and customer requirements.
Experience identifying value-engineering opportunities to reduce construction costs, remove over-engineering, and improve design efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in data centre design, construction, commissioning, or operations.
Experience reviewing long-lead equipment proposals, workshop drawings, and vendor technical submissions.
Knowledge of energy-efficient cooling solutions, heat rejection systems, water usage optimisation, and sustainable data centre design.
Experience supporting research and development of modular, standardised, or next-generation mechanical solutions.
Experience mentoring graduate and junior engineers and providing technical input into operational incidents and root-cause investigations.
