Description

Kapta Space is hiring a Senior PCB Designer in Seattle, Washington to own the architecture, execution, and quality assurance of printed circuit board layouts for scalable Metasurface electronically-steered array hardware supporting spaceborne synthetic aperture radar and defense target-tracking missions. The role involves high-speed digital, mixed-signal, RF, and power-board design; signal integrity, impedance control, EMI/EMC, DFM/DFA/DFT, multi-disciplinary integration, design reviews, vendor coordination, and aerospace and defense standards compliance. Candidates need significant professional PCB layout experience, principal-level spaceborne hardware experience, Altium Designer expertise, and eligibility to work on U.S. export-controlled projects.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent skills and experience.
Required Previous Experiences: Significant professional PCB layout experience.
Principal-level individual contributor experience with multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering complex spaceborne hardware.
Significant DFM/DFA/DFT experience and collaboration with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors.
Experience leading Altium toolchain integration, library management, and automation or scripting.
Familiarity with aerospace or defense hardware design requirements, including shock, vibration, thermal, radiation, and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience designing PCBs for spacecraft payloads, synthetic aperture radar systems, or electronically-steered RF arrays.
Proficiency with 3D ECAD/MCAD co-design workflows and mechanical constraint management.
Knowledge of IPC Class 3 and NASA or MIL specifications for PCB fabrication and assembly.
Exposure to high-power or high-voltage design practices and power-integrity simulation tools.
Power and signal integrity layout skills.
Knowledge of thermal transfer through PCB materials.
Experience with high-frequency RF routing principles and circuits.
Experience developing mission-critical hardware for space and/or defense environments.
Experience designing complex multi-layer PCBs with high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, SERDES, JESD, and Ethernet.
