Albemarle County’s Department of Community Development is hiring a Senior Planner I or Senior Planner II to perform moderate- to high-complexity development review, including site development plans, subdivision plats, special-use permits, zoning amendments, and wireless-tower applications. The role coordinates reviews across departments and agencies, prepares technical reports and presentations, interprets zoning and subdivision regulations, analyzes project impacts, represents the County in public meetings, and supports policy and community-engagement initiatives. The position requires a relevant master’s degree and four years of planning and project-management experience for Senior Planner II, or two years for Senior Planner I, along with GIS, Microsoft Office, and database skills. It is a full-time, hybrid-eligible role with a stated salary range of $74,259 to $88,641 per year and benefits including health insurance, retirement, and paid leave.
