Description

Astera Labs is hiring a customer-facing Technologist to help define and develop data center memory solutions. The role combines system, memory, software, and chip architecture expertise with customer-facing technology pitching, product roadmap influence, and innovation for hyperscale data center bottlenecks. It is fully in person in San Jose, with occasional travel, and requires at least 10 years of memory-related data center experience, deep PCIe/CXL and silicon architecture knowledge, and strong cross-functional leadership.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Required Previous Experiences: At least 10 years developing memory-related solutions and integrating them into data center systems or racks
Deep experience with PCIe 5/6 and CXL at the protocol level
OS software integration and memory allocation/management
Recent silicon architecture and development experience, especially SOCs with memory controllers
Deep expertise in memory components, including DRAM
Data center system architecture and design challenges
Full-stack solutions from silicon through application integration
Customer-facing experience articulating technical concepts, influencing decisions, and building business cases
Leadership and cross-functional technical initiative delivery
Preferred Qualifications: Master of Science or PhD
JEDEC-defined memory interface specifications
Memory ECC and error handling
Product integration with BIOS, kernel, OS, tooling, and BMCs
Board and system design
Industry organization engagement and network
Hands-on silicon development experience
