Description

NVIDIA is hiring a Senior Research Engineer for its AI Developer Tools research team to build and improve coding agents, fine-tune and evaluate code LLMs, develop MCP servers and Agent Skills, generate synthetic training and evaluation data, and partner with product teams to ship AI-powered CUDA development tools. The role requires a B.S. in computer science or a related field, at least 12 years of applied AI/ML experience, strong Python and software engineering skills, and hands-on experience with LLMs, agent systems, and rigorous evaluations. The base salary range is 224,000 USD to 356,500 USD for Level 5 and 272,000 USD to 431,250 USD for Level 6, with equity and benefits; applications were accepted until May 4, 2026.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
Required Previous Experiences: At least 12 years of industry experience in applied AI/ML
Recent work in AI-for-code, coding agents, code LLMs, AI developer tools, or adjacent systems
Hands-on experience fine-tuning or evaluating LLMs
Experience with LLM-powered agent systems, including context management, prompt caching, tool-use design, MCP, and Agent Skills
Experience designing or contributing to rigorous evaluations for code generation or agentic systems
Experience shipping prototypes to real users
Preferred Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. degree
Public contributions in AI-for-code, including open-source tools, benchmarks, papers, or blog posts
Familiarity with CUDA or other GPU programming
Experience with synthetic data generation and quality validation for code
Track record of zero-to-one product work
